Kudumbashree: Empowering Women for a Developed India Kudumbashree, meaning “prosperity of the family” in Malayalam, is a transformative initiative by the Government of Kerala focused on poverty eradication and women empowerment. Since its inception in 1997, Kudumbashree has become a symbol of resilience and progress, evolving into one of the largest women’s networks in the world. With a robust three-tier structure—comprising Neighbourhood Groups (NHGs), Area Development Societies (ADS), and Community Development Societies (CDS)—Kudumbashree embodies democratic leadership and collective action. The organization empowers millions of women, promoting financial independence, social development, and active community participation. Aligned with the theme of IITF 2024, “Viksit Bharat @ 2047”, Kudumbashree envisions a future where women play a pivotal role in shaping a developed India. By driving grassroots change and sustainable development, Kudumbashree stands as a powerful example of how empowering communities can contribute to the nation’s journey toward prosperity and progress.
